Adjudicator Spotlight: Elizabeth Hayley, GRSM Hons, LRAM, LGSMD, LTCL

After studying piano accompaniment and flute at the Royal Academy of Music in London, Elizabeth Hayley spent six months at Selly Oak Bible College before working in Jamaica as a music educator in churches, communities and schools.  She has subsequently enjoyed a successful career as a versatile musician; working as a pianist, accompanist, vocal coach, adjudicator, ballet répétiteur, examiner & conductor.

In her early years as a piano student, Elizabeth was often told to “stop fiddling and practice properly!”  But she fortunately ignored that advice and those ‘fiddling’ skills eventually became very handy, enabling her to spend many happy years playing with world-renowned groups such as The Pump Room Trio (Bath), the Royal Academy of Dance, and The Pasadena Roof Orchestra.

Elizabeth has always loved singing, being in her local church choir from a young age, and has enjoyed working with many community groups – producing arrangements of popular songs such as James Bond theme tunes, ABBA, & James Galway to encourage people to sing for fun! She recently enjoyed 12 years of extensive travel throughout Asia as a Classical & Jazz Examiner for ABRSM, and currently works at Eton College as piano teacher/accompanist, alongside her role as Professor of Piano at the Royal Marines School of Music in Portsmouth.

We are delighted to welcome back Elizabeth to adjudicate the Pianoforte section in our 70th Annual Festival.
