Adjudicator Spotlight: Estelle Flood
Estelle started her musical journey aged 10, when she began playing the cornet in the local brass band. Whilst studying cornet and trumpet at the Birmingham Conservatoire, she became a member of its brass band and was a member of the band that achieved third place in the Championship Section at the National Brass Band Finals of Great Britain at the Royal Albert Hall.
After graduation, Estelle moved back to the North West and began a career in secondary music teaching - where she conducted numerous bands, orchestras, choirs and directed a wide variety of school musicals. During this time, she was a member of Kennedys Swinton Concert Band, and won the prestigious British Open Brass Band Championships.
She progressed to become the Director of Music at the celebrated Wardle High School which has a brass band in every academic year plus a youth and section band. She achieved great success in competitions with both the section and youth band.
When Estelle moved to the south coast, she took over the baton at the Brighton Band and enjoyed many happy, successful years there. Since moving to Hampshire, Estelle has been M.D. of Denmead Brass.
