Alison Woodward


Alison is Performance Development Coordinator, BA Programme Coordinator, Senior Lecturer in Music and Bassoon Tutor at the University of Chichester.  She also oversees and supports all areas relating to the ‘Quality of the Student Experience’, the delivery of one-to-one lessons across the Department and the Assessment of student performance.  Alison’s work embraces all aspects of performance, and she has


been one of the woodwind specialists on the Ensembles modules as well as Woodwind Coach in various contexts over the past twelve years.  Alison has also worked alongside West Sussex Music prior to this as Staff Development Tutor, Leader of the Chichester Music Centre, Woodwind Tutor, Ensemble Coach and Bassoon Specialist.  


Alison won a scholarship to study music and gained a 1st Class Honours Degree from the University of Chichester as well as the Wiley Prize for Academic Excellence.  She was also awarded a Distinction at Masters level in Music Performance.  


Finally, Alison freelances as a Performance Adjudicator and as a bassoonist, regularly performing in a variety of orchestral and chamber ensembles.  She has recorded for several films, one of which won the Caligari Prize in the Berlin Film Festival.  Alison has also had a selection of published bassoon repertoire dedicated to her.
