Our Festival for 2021 will run in a ‘virtual’ format.
Running the Festival in our normal ‘live’ way is not possible as the logistical problems in ensuring the safety of entrants, our Festival volunteers and the general public during the Covid-19 pandemic are simply insurmountable.
In our ‘virtual’ Festival, adjudication will be given on video recordings of entrants’ performances..
The regulations and recommendations in force are continually changing as the rate of infection changes. However, it is widely believed that the infection rate will rise during the winter months and that social distancing will still be necessary. For that reason, we cannot offer all the classes normally found in our syllabus. Only solo classes are available.
We are still working on the final details, but an outline of the process is as follows. Please note that this may change :-
Our syllabus is published on this site. There are fewer classes than usual, and we can include only solo classes.
Performers choose their class and create a video of their piece. We will provide general guidance on making your video..
Entrants use our online system to place their entry and upload their video to the Festival Dropbox account..
We create a virtual programme and email Zoom meeting invitations to all entrants in each class. Please note that this may not be the performers themselves, but can only be the person actually placing the entry as that is the only email contact we have.
Adjudicators will be granted access to the videos. They view them and perform their adjudication.
At the Zoom meeting, will will play all the entry videos so that all entrants can see all of the performances in the class and the adjudicator will give his feedback and announce winners.
We will produce virtual certificates updated with the adjudicator’s comments and distribute them via email.
