Dale Rooks


Dale Rooks works extensively with children and young people, and has directed numerous Youth Theatre productions at Chichester Festival Theatre. Her acclaimed promenade production of Michael Morpurgo’s Running Wild staged for Chichester’s Festival 2015, won the UK Theatre Award for Best Show for Children and Young People. This production made a professional debut at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre Festival 2016, followed by a UK Tour both of which were co-directed by Dale. In 2018, Dale

















directed a world premiere production of The Midnight Gang at CFT, inspired by David Walliam’s novel.


Dale’s other directing credits at Chichester Festival Theatre include Peter Pan, The Hundred and One Dalmatians, The Witches, The Firework-Maker’s Daughter, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, A Christmas Carol and Alice in Wonderland.

Dale has also directed for the National Theatre (NT Connections), Royalty Theatre London, Brighton Dome, London Thames Festival, International Youth Arts Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Other credits include Stage Director for The Shakespeare Schools Festival; Opera projects with West Sussex Schools and the BBC Concert Orchestra players; European School’s Drama Project with companies in Normandy, France.

Dale has worked as Education Specialist for the London based company Artichoke, creating a programme of work for schools in London and


Brooklyn, New York and on a further live arts project as part of the Liverpool City of Culture Celebrations. Working in partnership with NAYT (National Association Youth Theatres) Dale is the Lead Officer for the South East region, networking with other youth theatres in the South of England.


Dale is Learning, Education and Participation Director at Chichester Festival Theatre.
